Starlight Parade
We went to the Starlight parade for the 2nd time since we've lived here. Connor marched with the Century High School Band for the first time.
We met up with Ciara and the kids to watch the parade. One of the fun things about this parade is that they have a run before it. People dress up and make it fun to watch.
This is proof it really was a gorgeous day.

Here were some Sesame Street aliens.
And Herb. He was Animal from the Muppet's.
The kids were able to snag a spot in front to watch the parade. Sage ran with her dad until she got to us. It was about half way.
It was at this moment I called to wish my dad Happy Birthday. And then the guy jumped off. I wasn't quite expecting that. Dad is 76. It was great that we got to see him last weekend.
The floats all have lights because that's what the Starlight parade is all about.

Pete made sure he wore Red Sox gear so that he was dressed right to root for Luke's team.

Connor's 8th Grade Graduation
Connor is done with 8th grade! Well almost. They have 2 more weeks left in school. Weird right? He played with the Jazz band before the ceremony and then took his seat. I had a hard time with the lighting but at least I got a few pictures.
Connor was called up because of the Optimist Award he received.
Then it was finally time to receive his certificate. He was all smiles.
He is ready to be a freshman. We wanted to celebrate but Connor and Courtney had Y/M and Y/W so we dropped them off and then took everyone out for a very late dinner to McGrath's. Connor, Courtney and I all ordered the same thing and loved it. Pete and Mallory had to bring home leftover's.

A stop in Crescent City
Before we left we had Dad take our picture in front of the house.
On our way up to Crescent City we stopped at the Klamath bridge and took our picture with the Gold Bears.
We took the kids to the beach to try our luck with tide pooling. Courtney found the first specimen. She wasn't afraid to hold it at all. Connor told her to hold it on the back end of it's shell so she did and it promptly snapped her finger in it's claw. She didn't even flinch.
We found another one with it's baby.

Melanson's moving day
We went to Eureka over Memorial Day weekend to help Mom and Dad Melanson pack up the truck to move on to Utah. We got there Friday afternoon and started to load the fragile boxes into Dad's truck. The kids were great and helped bring out boxes while Pete and Dad played tetris.
This is a throw back to a picture we have of the kids doing this when they were little. My how they've grown! Mal's whole body in the old picture is about to Mal's tummy in this one.
We had to use the high bar to have them hanging.
On our way down to Eureka we stopped by the Costco in Salem to pick up my early birthday present. I got a new camera and I have high hopes that I can become a better photographer. All of these pictures were my maiden voyage. The picture of Mal and Court was pretty late in the evening and it still came out.
Saturday was the big day and there was plenty of hustle and bustle.
