Family Reunion Fun

So a lot has been going on in the last week. We had the Melanson family reunion that started on June 29th and ended the night of the4th of July. Sunday we got to our campground and got settled into our cabins. Monday we headed out to Cannon Beach at Haystack Rock and had fun flying kites. My favorite kite was the seahorse. The wind was good and didn't seem to bother anyone except Mallory.I think she's more of a hot weather girl.

Tuesday we went into the little town not far from the campground. Vernonia has a swimhole that the kids had a ball at. I was the first adult in. Kim2 was the next. The girls didn't want to get in without and adult so I took the plunge. It was freezing! Once the kids got used to it I got out and had fun watching the kids play "3, 2, 1, fireworks!" That eventually turned into a water fight that Thomas and Mike got pulled into.

Wednesday we hung out at the cabins. Papa had his porch designated as the "I'll read to you and you read to me "area. It was a huge success. Mallory frequented it often. Connor did too. The cousins would gather and read with each other. This time it was Mike, Anna, and Mallory.

For those who wanted more action, a 10 mile bike ride ended up as the days activity. Courtney was the only girl (she is the oldest granddaughter you know!) and she did great. Bikes were a great hit with the kids this year. Those on the bike ride were T.J., Josh, Cole, David, Connor, Courtney, Ike, Pete, and Bob.
A tractor was in our way to pick everyone up so we waited for him to move. In the process he took the road sign with him!

Mallory was self appointed babysitter of cousin Quin.

She loved pushing him in his stroller and walking around with him. Luke joined them for a walk.

Thursday was break camp day and then we met at one of our favorite restaurants for dinner and watched National Treasure Book of Secrets in Bob and Kim's new bonus room.

Friday was the 4th of July and we got to pick up Hershey! We drove out to Forest Grove to pick her up and then went to a park we like for our picnic.

Baseball was enjoyed with the cousins,

the merry-go-round was a hit, and we got to enjoy sharing it all with Papa on his birthday.

A very fun reunion and a very busy week. Thank heavens it's summer!
