Day 2 - Epcot

Sleep, who needs sleep when you're at Disney World. Right? We slid out of the sack at 7:00 and managed to get out of the door at 8:00. We were actually pretty surprised at how sound proof the rooms are. Even getting in at midnight, there were folks still at the pool. Our room is on the second floor above one of the seven satellite pools on the resort (the main pool is on an island in the middle of the river. Anyway, even with people in the pool, we didn't hear a peep. Count us as happy. There are two bus stops within a few minutes walk from our room, so we are pretty happy.

We only had to wait another few minutes for our bus to Epcot to show up. It was about a 15 - 20 minute ride to the park, so we were in line by 8:30. Unfortunately, there wasn't much shade in by the turnstiles, so we got our first taste of the Florida sun. They do the same thing at DWorld that they do at DLand, let you in a little early and then make you wait in line again to actually get to the rides. Mickey and the crew came out and did a little show before they let down the ropes. Our plan was to do future world in the morning/early afternoon and then the world showcase in the late afternoon/early evening.

The plan went pretty well (thank you again ridemax). The highlights were the test track (the kid's favorite) and mission space (Court and Mallory were both selected as Commander for their flights and took their duties very seriously, to the point were they were both scared that they were going to crash the ship and be kicked out. It was pretty fun.) We also got our first taste of the dining plan. We had reservations at Chip and Dale's Harvest Feast. It was really good and the kids were able to see Chip, Dale, Mickey and Pluto without having to compete in line. Nice. The flank steak and potatoes seemed to go the quickest and the strawberry puff pastry for desert was awesome. The restaurant spun slowly over "The Land" ride so there was always something new to look at. Throw in a couple hidden Mickey's and it seemed to cruise by.

We grabbed some Epcot passports for the kids to get stamped and keep their attention and headed over to the world showcase. They transitioned us in nice and slow with rides in the first couple lands (Mexico with the Three Caballeros and Norway with some weird Viking ride). After that, they cut us off cold turkey. A cast member in Germany caught the kids looking for hidden Mickey's on one of the buildings and rewarded them with a pin, which was nice. The family got some practice with a few of the phrases we know from a few of the countries including Italy, France and China. Luckily we were able to get Connor to stop calling everyone "Gov'nah" before we got to England. We had a nice break midway through with ice cream and smoothies to cool off. By the time we got to Canada, we were ready to go. Unfortunately, we weren't able to change our reservations to the restaurant there and had to take the boat over to Germany.

Connor was really excited to eat German food because he learned he had some German blood in him. We ate at the German smorgasbord and shared our table with a couple of young men from Germany. They said the food was just like the food from their Grandma. So we'll take their word on it and say it was pretty authentic. The girls really liked the potato soup. The sausages, schnitzel and deserts were all very good too. We all had root beer in big German mugs and enjoyed the Oktoberfest entertainment. It was a good way to end the day. We watched the fireworks as we walked to the bus. A good day. A long day, but a good one. Friday is going to be at the water park, so we'll be able to rest a bit. I think we'll need it.

I'm exhausted and I didn't even go with you. This sounds like so much fun!
