Day 3 - Typhoon Lagoon

Because today was a waterpark day, that meant an extra hour of sleep. Julie was very happy about that. We decided to add on the waterpark and more option because we all like waterparks, we could throw in a couple waterpark days as "taking it easy" days, and we could also check out disneyquest if one of the tropical storms or hurricanes hit. Which, with our luck, was a pretty good chance.

We chose to give Typhoon Lagoon the first shot based on some research. We arrived in time for the rope drop at 10 and rushed to find a good shady spot. Well, no problems there. They really went to town on the theming. We were overwhelmed by how many shady spots there were. We chose a spot under some palm trees near the wave pool and headed off for the more popular rides.

The first stop was the snokeling. Mallory wasn't able to enjoy it because she couldn't get a good grip on the mouthpiece without all her front teeth. It was too bad. We were able to swim with rays and sharks. It was about a 25 yard swim across an acquarium with the the before mentioned sharks, rays and other colorful fish. Court dove straight down under the water. I had to pull her up to explain it wasn't scuba diving, just snorkeling. I think they both liked the hammerhead shark the best.
After that, we headed over to the slush and gusher, a waterslide roller coaster. You get propelled up the slides with momentum from hills and water jets. It was a pretty fun ride. We went on it a couple times before the lines built up. After that we hit the other rides. Connor even rode the slide that drops you straight down. I think besides the shark reef and the roller coaster, the wave pool was the most popular with the kids. The pool would crank out 6 foot wakes every couple minutes.

We took off from the pool by 4 and headed to the hotel to change. We had decided to go over to the Magic Kingdom for a couple hours to get familar with it. The park seemed smaller than Disneyland, but unfortunately, my familiarity with Disneyland lead me to get lost a couple times. The crowds were pretty sparse, so we were able to jump on quite a few rides in the few hours we were there. It was fun noticing the differences between the parks. We liked the queue of Pirates better in Florida, but felt the ride in California was better. Buzz Lightyear is better in Disneyland, but we did like Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain better in Florida. It was fun to compare.
We ate dinner at the resort and hit the sack. Tomorrow is Animal Kingdom.
